February 29, 2016 — FUSION today officially announced a new cross-platform series hosted by LatinWE’s Mariana Atencio called, “Searching for the Latino Voter.” 1 in 5 millennials are Hispanic and almost half of Hispanic eligible voters are millennials–so who are they and what are the issues that they are passionate about? Throughout the coming months FUSION’s Peabody award-winning anchor and correspondent Mariana Atencio (@MarianaAtencio) will be traveling across the country meeting different communities of young Hispanic voters to explore their role in the upcoming election. By telling stories like the influence of DREAMers in the Iowa caucuses or the divide among young Latino evangelicals in South Carolina, Atencio will highlight unique insights about this demographic that show this isn’t a monolithic group, and demonstrate the potential for Latino political power in years to come.

“We all know Hispanics are playing an increasingly important role in national elections, but as a young Latina journalist I am tired of seeing my community being talked about in stereotypes and monolithic terms,” Atencio said. “With this series I want to give my peers a chance to speak for themselves. We are traveling the country to explore the issues that are driving young Hispanics at the ballot box this election season.”

The series will run across FUSION’s digital, social, and OTT platforms as well as on the cable network’s flagship newsmagazine “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos.”
